Meet Ellie

Hi my name is Ellie Sherwood I’m originally from Bridport and I’ve lived in Lover since 2015. I have the most amazing little family and a very supportive husband Kern. Our daughter Esmé was born in November 2021 and we also have a Romania rescue dog called Finn.  

I'm a trained chef and have worked in a number of restaurants in Dorset and The New Forest. At my last job I was the Pastry Chef at The Bell Inn in Brook. I was there for four years until it closed because of covid-19.​ When they closed I found myself wondering what to do next. I had always wanted to start my own business, so I did just that in 2020. I delivered afternoon teas to people in my local community. Some were isolating on their own and family members would order a delicious delivery as a surprise pick me up. 

Since then Elm BakeAway has naturally progressed into making celebration cakes and I absolutely love it. I've enjoyed learning new skills along the way and meeting wonderful people. 

 

My Kitchen is a space that we built in our garage. It has been awarded with a 5* food hygiene rating from Wiltshire council. I'm also fully insured and have food hygiene and allergy training.

 

In 2022 my husband and I finally got to have our big wedding celebrations. We had an intimate covid restricted wedding 2 years prior at Salisbury registry office. Our big day was worth the wait and it was everything I ever dreamed of. I was crazy enough to make my own wedding cake!!

I think that's part of the reason why I'm currently working on my wedding cake portfolio which is what I'll be focusing on over the next year or so.
